Burns in the USA explores the influence of the work of Robert Burns on the emerging United States of America and some of its greatest cultural and political figures.

Writers, poets and folk singers like Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan all fell under the spell of the Bard, as did slave abolitionist Frederick Douglass and US president Abraham Lincoln.
